About This Ministry
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest and deacons in reverently distributing the Eucharist during Mass. Those who serve are called to a deep devotion to Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament and a commitment to prayerful, faithful service. Ministers are typically scheduled two to three times per month for weekend liturgies and are asked to arrive early and assist with preparing sacred vessels after Mass. Diocesan formation and parish training are required. Some ministers also feel called to bring Holy Communion to the homebound and local care facilities, extending Christ’s presence and the parish’s care to those unable to attend Mass.
