…”And for this reason we too give thanks to God unceasingly, that, in receiving the word of God from hearing us, you received not a human word but, as it truly is, the word of God, which is now at work in you who believe.” Saint Paul, in the second reading today, reflects with great appreciation on the power of the Word of God and expresses deep gratitude for its impact and effect. Give thanks to God unceasingly! Imagine if we would spend our days reflecting on the Word of God and the blessings of God in our lives. We, too, would give thanks to God unceasingly.

…One of the blessings that comes when we thank God unceasingly is that our hearts are always full of gratitude and joy. It gives us a deep peace knowing how blessed we are by God. Spend these autumn days giving thanks to God unceasingly.

…So many are ‘cleaning out their closets’ and bringing their gently used coats so we can distribute them to families in need in ALPHA Village in the City of Cleveland. This is a great way to blanket those in need with the warmth and care of Christ. We are working to distribute coats on November 15… so, this is a great week to drop off your coats. Thank you so much!!

…The pies and turkeys are also starting to show up. This is part of our effort to collect 600 turkeys and 800 pies so we can provide food for 6500 people this Thanksgiving. Imagine our parish feeding 6500 people and putting coats on the back of 2000 people in the month of November. God bless you for ALL your goodness!

…Did you notice the Church is a little cleaner this weekend? Thanks to our Heavenly Angels cleaning ministry you can smell the Murphy’s Oil Soap and see the shine! The group could use a few more hands to help keep the House of God clean and welcoming for all. They will sweep and clean again on November 16. If you can help or want to learn more, please contact Amanda McCreary at ajmm18@aol.com.

We give thanks to God unceasingly for their lives, their faith and the promise of heaven. Eternal Rest Grant on to them, O Lord. Our parish is blessed to have some very helpful bereavement ministry programs to help during a time of loss. They are hosting Hope for the Holidays, presented by our Ministry of Consolation (contact Monica at 330.460.7304 or MonicaK1@roadrunner.com for more information), and Surviving the Holidays, presented by our GriefShare ministry (contact Terri at 216.973.6784 or tbartchak86@gmail.com for more information).

…Today’s bulletin contains an important insert with some timely information about the concept/vision for the updating and renovation of the Church. Our Vision 20/20 team has been working to develop a plan that addresses things we have to do (replace HVAC, lighting upgrade, handicap access, sound system, flooring, etc), along with some things we would like to do (better seating, new statues and Church art, side vestibule, etc). Thanks to all who came to the town hall meetings to learn about the plan and offer good feedback. Please take some time to go online yourself to see a ‘walk thru video,’ along with some pics that stir a vision of some possibilities for our Church. Overall, the responses thus far have been extremely positive. Almost everyone likes how the plan respects the beauty of the Church and freshens it up. Father Carlin, who helped design the Church, called the other day. He ‘took a look’ and really appreciated how much the ideas put forth both respect for the Church and enhance it greatly. Take some time to look for yourself. Thanks.

…This weekend our seminarian, Josh, will be offering a reflection as part of some of the weekend Masses. While he is not giving a homily, it’s a chance for him to get some experience of preaching and presiding at Mass. This internship year is an important part of his formation for the priesthood. Please keep him in your prayers as he learns and grows.

…This coming Wednesday our parish is hosting one of 12 regional prayer services to remember those who have lost their loved ones because of an overdose/addiction. …We continue to pray for peace in our world and for an end of all violence and terror. Special prayers for those who lost loved ones in NYC this last Tuesday.
