Pope Francis has invited Catholics to renew an act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25. The solemnity of the Annunciation on Saturday marks one year since Pope Francis consecrated Russia and Ukraine to the Blessed Virgin Mary in St. Peter’s Basilica with a prayer asking for peace in the world.
“Saturday will mark the solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, and our thoughts turn to March 25 last year when, in union with all the bishops of the world, we consecrated the Church and humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary,” Pope Francis said.
The Feast of the Annunciation
March 25, 2023
- Special Mass on Saturday morning at 8:15 am
- Church and Chapel open on Saturday from 7:00 am until 9:30 pm
- Copies of the special Marian Consecration prepared by Pope Francis at the doors of the Church
- Let us unite in prayer for peace in our world
The challenging world we live in reminds us that we desperately need God and need to center our hearts, homes, country and world on the Lord. Mary is the perfect model and example for us to follow. On the Feast of the Annunciation, we remember with a fervent faith her ‘yes’ to the Lord. May we use this special day to renew our commitment, day by day, to walk in the ways of the Lord and be instruments of God’s peace. Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
