…”Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.” Over the course of the Easter Season, Jesus has been the Light, the Good Shepherd, our Divine Mercy. He is the Gate for the Sheep and last week the Vine. This weekend is perfect love. And LOVE (God’s love) changes everything. The more we live – and love – the pattern of Christ, the more we will experience the joy of the Lord. This week practice loving like Christ? We all know the phrase “What would Jesus do?” This week, how would Jesus love this person? See if it doesn’t change everything.
…Next weekend we celebrate the group First Eucharist with the second graders. This weekend also begins the ‘family’ celebrations of First Eucharist. It’s a special time for our young people and their families. As they receive Christ into their hearts and lives, may they know the love and joy of the Lord. May it stir their hearts to love others as Christ loves them/us. Please keep our young people in your prayers. May they always hunger for Jesus, our Bread of Life.
…Next Sunday is Mother’s Day. Give your mom the perfect gift and bring her to Mass with you and your family. If your mom is home with the Lord, come to Mass in prayerful remembrance of those who have gone before us. For so many, our mothers have put a tender human face on the love that Jesus speaks of in our Gospel this weekend. Let’s honor their sacrifice and love by strengthening the bonds of faith and family.
…Many thanks to those who responded last weekend to our Commitment Weekend for our Generations of Faith Appeal. So many demonstrated such goodness and generosity in giving a gift to care for the House of the Lord. Thank you so much for your support. I am hopeful that, over the next few weeks, we will be able to confirm the plans to address the needs of our Church. Please keep this important effort in your prayers.
Saint Paul reminds us that each of us are living stones in the Body of Christ – the Church. Each of us come to the Church to find the help and grace of the Lord. What is most important in this appeal is that all of us do something….whatever that something is….it’s our Church….each of us are living stones….all of us – together – will build up the Body of Christ – the Church. We need to hear from all of our members. Please prayerfully consider the needs of our Church. Take some time to read today’s bulletin insert. As I shared last weekend, it really is going to take all of us working together to make this happen for our community. Thank you.
…Many thanks to Janet Majka and our PSR Team for a great PSR year. They have been winding things down over the past week. We are blessed to have so many of our members who serve as catechists and aides. They are truly passionate about passing on the faith and our Catholic tradition to our young people. God bless all who serve in our teaching ministries.
…Carla Woodring does an amazing job in coordinating our PSR Home School Program. With great joy, at the closing prayer service for the PSR year, she was sharing how well so many of our families did in completing the entire PSR year together as a family. God bless Carla.
…The nice weather of this past week is a clear reminder that spring, and soon summer, is upon us. Thank you God!!! Our Summer Festival team is ramping up their efforts for June 21-24, 2018. As you will see in the bulletin, we need your help. Please spread the word. Consider signing up to help (we need YOU). Please support the festival raffle. The summer raffle will help us renovate the Chapel and keep our parish in good repair.
…Last week Saint Ambrose School became the first school announced in the State of Ohio to be STEAM designated. We are one of 55 STEM designated schools in the State (out of 4,500) and one of only TWO STEAM (adding the A for ARTS). This is a blessing beyond words and a great compliment to our faculty and staff. It is a strong affirmation of the great work being done every day in our school and Littlest Angels Preschool. Congratulations to our faculty and staff.
…Mrs. Cinadr and her team are working hard to both wrap up the current school year AND set plans in motion for 2018-2019. We still have some openings. If you would like to learn more about the amazing things taking place every day for our students, please call Breanne Logue at 330.460.7318.
…The 5th Annual Golf Outing is right around the corner, Sunday, June 10, 2018. It’s a great day of golf with amazing people. There are lots of super prizes and giveaways. It also makes sure that we can welcome any student who wants a Catholic education into our school. All proceeds support the Students in Need Scholarship Fund. If you like golf or want to do some great good, please join us.
…Our STAR4Life (Saint Ambrose Relay for Life) team is putting together their annual 5k run and 1 mile walk on Saturday, June 2, 2018. All proceeds support Relay for Life. Come for a great run/walk. Spread the word….the more…the better!
…The goodness of our young people… last weekend three junior high/high school students – all at different Masses – made a pledge for the repair/renovation of the Church. Very humbling to see our young people wanting to do their part to take care of the House of God. We are all living stones that make up the Body of Christ – the Church.
…Remain in the love of Christ. Let nothing and no one distract you for living and loving as Christ loves you. You will see first-hand this week the power of God’s love. It can change everything. God bless you and your loved ones.
